Mission Statement
The Mission of this Church is the salvation of souls, the edification of Christians through the teaching of God's Word, the world-wide proclamation of God's saving grace expressed in the shed blood and finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ on Calvary, the promotion of Godly worship, "...contended earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints" Jude 3 NASB, and cooperation with Christian activity functioning in harmony with God's Holy Word - The Bible - until He comes.
Doctrinal Statement
1.) We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as inspired of God, inerrant in the original writings, and that they are the supreme and final authority in faith and life.
II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:21, 1 Corinthians 2:13
2.) We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Deuteronomy 6:4, II Corinthians 13:14
3.) We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and is true God and true man.
Isaiah 9:6, Luke 1:34-35
4.) We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person's as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. To reject one's biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.
Genesis 1:26-27
5.) We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are called to defend, protect, and value all human life.
Psalm 139
6.) We believe that because of Adam and Eve's sin in the Garden of Eden, sin was introduced upon the human race, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death which is separation from God; that in this way death came to all humanity because all have sinned.
Genesis 3:6, Romans 5:12-21
7.) We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood and resurrection.
Romans 4:5, I Corinthians 15:3, II Corinthians 5:21, I John 1:7
8.) We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in his present life there is for us, as our High Priest and Advocate.
I Corinthians 15:4, Hebrews 4:14, I John 2:1, Acts 1:9
9.) We believe in “that blessed hope”, the personal, pre-millennial, and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Titus 2:13, Philippians 3:20, I Thessalonians 4:13-18, Zechariah 14:4-11
10.) We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.
John 1:12, Ephesians 2:8-10
11.) We believe in the whole-hearted devotion the cause of Christ as the only Scriptural basis for a happy and useful Christian life, and separation of the believer from all worldly practices.
I John 2:15-17, Titus 2:11-14
12.) We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including but not limited to adultery, fornification, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God.
Matthew 15:18-20, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
13.) We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
Acts 3:19-21, Romans 10:9-10, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
14.) We believe in bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, in the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting conscious suffering of the lost.
John 5:28-29, II Thessalonians 1:7-9, Revelations 20:11-15
15.) We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Hillside Bible Church.
Mark 12:28-31, Luke 6:31
16.) We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a Memorial Service and is setting forth in a sacred and symbolic manner the death of the Lord Jesus Christ upon our behalf.
I Corinthians 11:23-26
17.) We believe in Baptism with water “in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost”, to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, with its effect, our death to sin and resurrection to a new life.
Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12, Matthew 28:19, Acts 10:47-48
18.) We believe that the term "marriage" has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman married to each other. We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
Genesis 2:18-25, 1 Corinthians 6:18, 1 Corinthians 7:2-5, Hebrews 13:4
19.) We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Hillside Bible Church as the local body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to the Hillside Bible Church members and community, it is imperative that all persons employed by Hillside Bible Church in any capacity (in positions of leadership, teaching, preaching, supervisory, or child services), or serve as volunteers agree to this Statement Doctrinal Statement.
